Studies
for
Infini

Typeface design is a long process of study and refinement. From the very first sketches to the release of the final digital files, Sandrine Nugue passed through numerous intermediate stages, developing the shape of each letter, finding the most suitable form for each curve, adjusting diagonals, constructing ligatures and inventing graphic relationships between letters and words.

Books of notes, sketches and studies completed by Sandrine Nugue throughout the various phases of development for Infini are now in the collections of the Centre national des arts plastiques, where they are conserved as part of the public commission. The sustainability of this work is thus guaranteed, and these notebooks also constitute a valuable source of documentation to better understand the nature and complexity of the type designer's profession.
