Strange is beautiful

For the 1st time in France, a gallery owner, Géraldine Zberro, has gathered artists, from different artistic and geographic backgrounds, around the same theme : Beautiful Bizarre. It is the name of our magazine, but many contemporary artists also identify themselves with this term. For connoisseurs of art, it is a movement rapidly emerging and unifying artists with various techniques. Could it be the future of contemporary art ? With her group exhibition, Géraldine Zberro wishes to answer this question. She selected artists experimenting with street art, pop surrealism, art installations, narrative figuration, as well as manga inspiration. The common trait to their creations is a friction between dreams and reality. They often use the metaphor of childhood and its ambiguous identity, between innocence and the discovery of a brutal world. Each of the pieces presented has an unconventional beauty and is an emotional agitator : they are beautifully bizarre.

Pour la 1ère fois en France, une galeriste, Géraldine Zberro, a réuni des artistes de différents horizons, géographiques et artistiques, autour du même thème : Beautiful Bizarre (le « beau bizarre »). C’est le nom de notre magazine, mais beaucoup d’artistes contemporains se retrouvent dans ce terme. Pour les amateurs d’art, ce mouvement est en pleine émergence et fédère des artistes, quelque-soit leur technique. Pourrait-il être l’avenir de l’art contemporain ? Avec son exposition, Géraldine Zberro souhaite répondre à cette question. Elle a sélectionné des artistes expérimentant avec le street art, la peinture pop surréaliste, les installations, la figuration narrative, ainsi que les influences manga. Le point commun de leurs créations est le heurt des songes et du réel. Ils utilisent souvent la métaphore de l’enfance et son identité ambigüe, entre innocence et découverte d’un monde brutal. Toutes les pièces présentées ont une beauté non conventionnelle et agitatrice d’émotion : elles sont magnifiquement bizarres.
