Affiche de l'exposition Image 3.0, une commande photographique du Cnap et du Jeu de Paume

Art and new technologies combine in this exhibition of works by 17 artists who in 2020 and 2021 benefited from the Image 3.0 national photographic commission, spearheaded by Centre national des arts plastiques (CNAP) with Jeu de Paume, in response to an initiative by the Ministry of Culture.

The exhibition is staged at Le Cellier in Reims, from May 20 to September 4, 2022. It presents works produced using the innovative resources and technologies now available to image-makers, such as virtual reality, augmented reality, 2.5D and 3D printing, 3D scanning, digital modelling and mapping. Working with engineers and researchers, the 17 artists have created spatialised, volumised, published, posted or projected works.

Shown together for the first time, they form a panorama of contemporary image technologies. They also raise questions about the way images are used, from cybernetics to artificial intelligence, facial recognition and neurosciences.

IMAGE 3.0 is especially focused on interactivity between the works and visitors to the exhibition who, beyond simply viewing these images, are invited to engage with them.

Taking “assembly” as its theme – as chosen by Reims in its bid to become a European Capital of Culture 2028 - IMAGE 3.0 brings together the latest digital practices in photography and image creation.
