Marlie Mul was born in 1980 in Utrecht Seeing a possibility in using sculpture as an intuitive process to deal with ones' direct living and working environment, Marlie Mul's work has been focused on the creating of a physical perfected symbiosis of materials and through this making the focus on a more essential experimental working phase possible. In former objects and installations this has formulated itself in the development of in situ rectangular individually adaptable furniture objects developed in order to maximize efficiency in relationship to lightness and velocity combined with volume and monumentality. The result is the creation of different living and working situations where spatial effectiveness and experience are challenged in a surprising way; unconventional materials - e.g. Styrofoam - and connections put the self-evidence of standard materials and economies into question. For her first solo show at Galerie Lucile Corty she will work on the development of three large-scale pieces, grouped objects that play with a sense of order and factors of decoration and ornamentation taking their inspiration from classically known European sculpture and decorative arts. So far the objects and installations in given spaces have been dealing with organization in different levels, taking this as a starting point to what could become an all-encompassing sculpted environment – referring to the social and ideological aspects of an all embracing artistic entity, as is seen in mediaeval cathedrals but also in Walter Gropius' inspiration for the Bauhaus in Weimar– the new objects are thought of as imaginary domestic extensions to the former furniture objects. Built up in the same technique, here the base material is cut into small cubes, making it possible to create organic but controlled shapes. By experimenting with different sizes of cubes the artist experiments with proportion and scale, a fractal object is created that roughly looks the same on any scale (self similar). David-Ivar Herman Dune was born in Paris in 1976, in a Jewish-Swedish family. Along with his songs, and his band Herman Dune, he has been travelling around Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States. When he's not singing, David-Ivar Herman Dune aka Yaya works in both New York or Paris, for books of drawings, illustrations, music illustrations or art-shows. Recently, his own drawings and his work together with Julien Langendorff have been shown in New York and Paris (Cinders Gallery, AAA, Arts Factory). Summoning recurrent characters such as aliens, surfers or the blue big foot, his drawings are referencing his songs, everyday-life thoughts or popular culture connected to childhood like Disney's Pete's Dragon. His latest collection of songs will be released by Everloving records this fall (NEXT YEAR IN ZION). His graphic work about the Blue Bigfoot Of The Negev will be shown in Paris (Lucile Corty Gallery).
