Fred Jagueneau
Après des études de photographie et d’arts plastiques, Fred Jagueneau a assisté de grands photographes parmi lesquels Mario Testino, Paolo Roversi, Steven Meisel, Annie Leibovitz. En 1994, il commence un travail personnel en polaroïd noir et blanc lors de ses voyages (Bolivie, Chili, Tchéquie, Irlande, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Bulgarie, Zanzibar, Cuba, Birmanie..). .. En 1998, il réalise une exposition de vingt portraits d’écrivains (format 80 x 120), « Écrivains présents » pour la médiathèque François Mitterrand de Poitiers. Il a récemment participé, avec Nan Goldin, au diaporama SCOPOPHILIA (Amour du regard, photos de peintures), exposé au Louvre jusqu’au 31 janvier 2011.
Voyageur infatigable et solitaire, Fred Jagueneau part chaque année, plusieurs mois durant, dans un nouveau pays dont il rentre avec des polaroïds de paysages et des portraits.
Fred Jagueneau fait depuis longtemps partie de l’univers créatif de Nan Goldin puisque au sein de son studio, il l’assiste dans la mise en scène et l’accrochage de ses expositions. Elle n’est donc pas seulement une supportrice fervente mais porte aussi un regard intérieur sur l’essence de son travail de photographe développé à partir des polaroïds noir et blanc ou couleur qui formèrent la substance de sa recherche photographique.
Fred Jagueneau est né en 1967 à Poitiers, il vit et travaille à Paris.
Nan Goldin est née en 1953 à Washington elle vit et travaille entre Paris, Londres et New York.
After studying photography and art, Fred Jagueneau worked as an assistant to numerous photographers, including Mario Testino, Paolo Roversi, Steven Meisel, and Annie Leibovitz. In parallel, from 1994, Jagueneau began working on his own Polaroid black and white photographs which led him to travel to Bolivia, Chile, Czech Republic, Ireland, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Bulgaria, Zanzibar, Cuba, and Burma. In 1998 he made an exhibition of 20 portraits of writers (80 x 120 cm), "writers present" for the François Mitterrand library in Poitiers. He participated with Nan Goldin in SCOPOPHILIA (love the look, pictures of paintings), exhibited at the Louvre until 31 Jan 2011.
A tireless globetrotter, Jagueneau travels alone for months every year to a new country, from where he returns with Polaroids of stunning landscapes and portraits.
Jagueneau is a longtime and active member of Nan Goldin’s studio, assisting her in in the set up and hanging of her photographic exhibitions. She is not only eagerly supportive of his work but also offers her intrinsic and profound vision digging into the essence of Jagueneau’s work: black and white or color polaroids embodying the substance of his photographic journey around the world.
