Galerie Vrais rêves

“Vrais Rêves” est le titre d’un livre publié par Duane Michals en 1976 : deux mots choisis pour le patronyme du lieu en hommage à cet artiste, deux mots qui expriment aussi notre ligne artistique depuis 1980, année de la création de la galerie. Située à Lyon, Vrais Rêves programme 5 expositions par an dans ses murs. Ses artistes, sous contrat de représentation, sont également diffusés au travers du réseau tissé au fil des années : illustration presse, festivals, grandes manifestations et hauts lieux de la photographie. L’esprit de la galerie est porté par la passion de ses fondateurs et acteurs plus récents, exigeants, tournés vers la photographie contemporaine et “plasticienne”. La Galerie s’apprête à fêter ses 30 ans à l’automne 2010, fière d’avoir cru -et contribué- à la reconnaissance de la photographie dans le monde artistique. « Real dreams » corresponds to a Duane Michals’ book published 1976 : two words chosen for being our gallery name in memory to this artist, for being our photographical point of view. Our gallery is based in Lyon (South East of France), composed of two exhibition grounds, one is an old basement … both are turned to be as neutral as possible for welcoming chosen photographical works since 1980. Our commercial gallery is used to exhibit works from our stock also outside during French events like the international meetings in Arles, or some photo exhibitions in Lorient, Quimper, Carcassonne, Paris, Brussels, Bucuresti, Warsaw, etc. Our aim is to monstrate and support a certain creative way of doing, making, photographs by contemporary individuals such as Jan Saudek, Keiichi Tahara, Mario Giacomelli, Arno Minkkinen, Toni Catany and Duane Michals (for the tenth anniversary of the gallery). We are enthusiastic defenders of contemporary works, exhibiting and promoting artists using photography for the last 28 years, and hoping to do this « job » for a long time …
