Alison O’Daniel est une artiste visuelle. Ses œuvres s’apparentent à des récits liés à la sensibilité et aux expériences auditives entre cinéma, fabrication d'objets et performance. A travers ses collaborations avec des compositeurs sourds et entendants ainsi qu’avec d’autres artistes, ses œuvres invitent la sensibilité à la perte et à l'abondance de bruit et de son impact sur des situations sociales.
Entre sculpture, peinture, son, film avec de la musique live ou des accompagnements en langage des signes, les installations d’Alison O’Daniel, ses films et ses instances performatives créent un imaginaire biographique qui déplace la compréhension corporelle vers un langage physique et tactile de la perception. A travers ces différentes disciplines, elle développe sur le corps du spectateur une expérience sensorielle par une combinaison de transformations subtiles et prononcées du cinéma narratif et de l'expérience cinématographique.
Son précédent film ‘Night Sky’ a été présenté accompagné par un concert live ou un accompagnement en langage des signes à l’Anthology Film Archive, à l’Art in General à New York, à Performa 11 à New York, au MOCAD, Detroit, à l’Université de New York, à Black Box - Pacific Standard Time 1945-1980 à Los Angeles, au Cleveland Museum of Art et au Museum of Jurassic Technology à Los Angeles. Son film ‘The Tuba Thieves’ est présenté pour la première fois en 2015 à l'Art in General, NY et à Passerelle Centre d’art Contemporain à Brest en France.
Alison O’Daniel a reçu en 2014 le Prix Rema Hort Mann Foundation, Los Angeles et a eu plusieurs expositions solo à la galerie Samuel Freeman à Los Angeles.

Alison O’Daniel is a visual artist. Her work weaves narratives of aural sensitivity and experience between the mediums of film, object-making, and performance. Through her collaborations with deaf and hearing composers and artists, her work invites sensitivity to loss and abundance of sound and its impact on social situations.
Alison O’Daniel works across disciplines, combining sculpture, sound-baths, painting, sports/dance teams, and films with live music or sign language accompaniment. Installations, films, and instances of the performative create a biographical imaginary that shifts bodily comprehension toward a physical and tactile language of perception. Her films enact a sensory experience on the body of the viewer through a combination of subtle and pronounced transformations of narrative filmmaking and the cinematic experience.
Her previous film, ‘Night Sky’ was presented with live musical accompaniment or with live Sign Language accompaniment at the Anthology Film Archive, Art in General, Performa 11, MOCAD (Detroit), NYU, the Black Box; Pacific Standard Time 1945-1980, the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Museum of Jurassic Technology. ‘The Tuba Thieves’ will premiere at Art in General and Centre d’art Contemporain Passerelle in Brest, France. O’Daniel is a 2014 Rema Hort Mann Foundation Award recipient and has presented a recent solo exhibition at Samuel Freeman Gallery in Los Angeles.
