The Centre national des arts plastiques on show at the Ministry of Culture and Communication

Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication - Espaces d’exposition des Bons-Enfants, paris 1
april 22 2016
  • Graphic design : H5

  • Bons-Enfants outside windows (outside)
Martine Aballéa has produced a monumental work that occupies ten windows of the Ministry of Culture
and Communication’s central administration offices at 182 rue Saint-Honoré.
    Entitled L’avant-printemps, Martine Aballéa’s
installation beckons the regard of passers-by into a dreamlike landscape on which golden words floating amongst overexposed and oversaturated foliage form a rebus that is also a nod to the Cnap’s areas of focus.

  • Valois gallery space and peristyle (access 5 rue de Valois, right)

  • Bons-Enfants exhibition space (inside, in the hall)
A programme of documentary videos offers visitors
the chance to discover the Cnap’s different areas of focus, from exhibitions and art restoration to public commissions, graphic design and the works in the collection...

  • Bons-Enfants exhibition space (inside, in the hall)
Objects from the design collection will also be on show on a catwalk, including such pieces as chairs by designers ranging from Émilie Voirin, Studio Job, Patricia Urquiola, Florence Doléac, Alessandro Mendini and Maarteen Baas.

  • Bons-Enfants exhibition space(inside, at the entrance to the right) Contemporary documentary photography takes centre stage at the Bons-Enfants exhibition space: sixty-nine artists who have received funding from the Cnap to develop their projects have been invited to present their take on the contemporary world
through a selection of images, some printed on postcards, which visitors can take away with them.

  • Valois gallery space and peristyle (access 5 rue de Valois, right)
The Fonds national d’art contemporain will also be on display in the windows of the Palais Royal, represented by a handful of works that reveal the collection’s eclectic dimension : La Joconde by Jules Auguste Sage, Meschac Gaba’s iconic wigs, a print by
Pierre Savatier, and the skate ramp designed by Raphaël Zarka for the public space.

From arts funding and the acquisition and commissioning of artworks to the organisation of exhibitions, not to mention keeping artists and other professionals informed, the “45 faces of the Cnap” is an opportunity to understand in images the breadth and diversity of the actions undertaken by the Centre national des arts plastiques in the realm of the visual arts.

At the invitation of France’s Ministry of Culture and Communication, the Centre national des arts plastiques (the National Centre of Visual Arts) is pleased to present cnap!.

This exhibition showcases the broad diversity of the Cnap’s actions in the field of the visual arts and the different programmes in place to support artists and art professionals, as well as provide a snapshot of its rich collections.

A public body under the wing of the Ministry of Culture and Communication, the Cnap supports contemporary creation in the field of visual arts in all its diversity. The Cnap awards a wide range grants and bursaries as part of its mission to help artists, galleries, publishers, restorers, and other art professionals. It makes acquisitions to enrich the Fonds national d’art contemporain (France’s national contemporary art collection), shared and promoted through an extremely active programme of short and long-term loans in France and overseas. cnap!, the exclamation point adding almost audible punch to the institution’s name, is an exhibition with no set itinerary or reading recommendations that we invite you to enjoy at your leisure.
